25th post UPDATED ON FOUNDATION PROGRAMME (IN PURPLE) - may Allah reward you for your intentions on pursuing knowledge. these are daruz zahra school information that potential students may find useful.. inshaAllah.

mashaAllah, its my 3rd year in Tareem. still the up and about internet-deprived hostel bound Daruz Zahra student named Dora *smiles*. Alhamdulillah. on this blessed Tasreeq day, i sit in the blessed home of Al-Khatib replying emails and deciding to pay a visit to my dusty blog.

may Allah make Ease in your affairs and arrangements on coming here to pursue sacred knowledge.. to pursue Arabic, language of the blessed Al-Quran and the people of The Garden. ameen Ya Rabb!

note that upcoming Singaporean students, please do visit Rubat Singapura (Facebook or their office at Tradisi Halaqah around Masjid Khalid). they are the official agents (for a lack of better term) for students or visitors of Tareem. yay. we have a representative.. like, finally. Alhamdulillah.

we have 4 stages here. a new semester starts on either mid Syawal (around Aug) or end Rabiulawal (around Jan) lasting about 5 months per semester.

it doesn't matter when you come, as long as your student Visa gets to be processed via Darul Mustafa. if you arrive mid semester then you either wait for the new semester to start or sit in the current semester and retake the following new semester.

STAGE 1
FOUNDATION PROGRAMME (ASASI - 1 - 1.5 years)

note that it is an intensive programme therefore it is best to already know how to read Al-Quran and read basic Arabic when you start Asasi Awal. we do have cases of converts who start from scratch and still do pretty well in the programme MashaAllah even though it is taught in Arabic itself. students who start from scratch are recommended to repeat the semester should they feel they have yet to grasp the programme even if they did not fail the semester.

- Asasi Awal Muqaddimah (1 semester)
please note this is only available if the intake that particular semester has at more than 10 students who are generally weak or really new at Arabic i.e. converts or them from non-madrasah backgrounds and couldn't keep up in Asasi Awal.

this will open up only say after 2 weeks of normal school semester. the students will be brought out of Asasi Awal either by school Administration's recommendation or voluntarily by students themselves and are placed in this class for a semester before heading back to Asasi Awal if they are ready for it.

- Asasi Awal (1 semester)
- Asasi Thani (1 semester)

you will study the following; Arabic Grammar, Shafi Fiqh (specialised classes in English and Arabic conducted), Adab (Etiquette), Reading & Conversation, Al-Quran Memorisation of Juz Amma & Juz Tabarak).

please note as of this semester, new Asasi students stay in a dorm OUTSIDE of Daruz Zahra compounds named Dar Al-Batool. they come to school in Daruz Zahra still though. students staying in Dar Al-Batool are bound to itinerary of Habib Umar AL-Hafidz too i.e. Tahajjud, Awrad, jemaah prayers etc. but just that they will be stationed in that dorm which is 10mins walk away. they get to stay in Daruz Zahra once they complete Asasi programme.

and as per this current Rabiulawal (Jan 2015) intake, sometimes even non-Asasi students would need to stay in Darul Batool before given priority to stay in Daruz Zahra due to a high increase in intake recently. all for the best InshaAllah.

STAGE 2
PRIMARY PROGRAMME (IBTIDA'I - 1.5years Or IBTIDA'I JIM - 1year)

- Ibtida'i Awal (1 semester)
Ibtida'i Thani (1 semester)
Ibtida'i Thalith (1 semester)

OR

- Ibtida'i Jim (2 semesters = 1year)
this is alike an Express Stream of Ibtida'i so instead of spending 1.5years in Ibtida'i, you will instead spend 1year in Ibtida'i before proceeding to the next level (I'daadi) however this is only open for admission during Syawal intake.

in both this levels you will complete the following syllabus ; Arabic Grammar, Shafi Fiqh, Adab (Etiquette), Al-Quran Memorisation of Suwar Fadhoil and Surah Al-Baqarah, Hadith, Tafseer etc.).

STAGE 3
SECONDARY PROGRAMME (I'DAADI - 2years)

- I'daadi Awal Alief (1 semester)
- I'daadi Awal Ba' (1 semester)
I'daadi Thani (1 semester)
I'daadi Thalith (1 semester)

you will study the following; Arabic Grammar, Shafi Fiqh, Adab (Etiquette), Al-Quran Memorisation of Juz 3-6, Hadith, Tafseer etc.).

STAGE 4
COLLEGE PROGRAMME (THANAWI - 3years)

this would be a specialised programme catered. graduates by the end would have memorised Al-Quran and a couple of blessed books i.e. Riyadhus Solihin with a strong sanad.

**MUSTAWAL QURAN
separate from the above progressive programme is the Mustawal Quran where students just memorize intensively Al-Quran along with specialized classes i.e. Adab of Al-Quran, Tafseer etc.

depending on how many ajza' you have memorized prior to entering and the speed/fluency of your memorization, it could be between 1-2yrs. students memorize average 4 pages a day. note that students who apply will be tested on Tajweed and speed of recitation. also you will need to understand Arabic.

this is currently where i am at after my Asasi programme that i completed. please make du'a for me to not be malas, i seriously can get really lazy.. Astaurgfirullah Dora.. *shakes head* jazakAllahu khayran.

sincerely,

As salam Ukhti..what is the minimum age for a female student who wants to go Daruz Zahra?

dorayuana said...

as-salaam dear dya.. may Allah make ease in your arrangements. we'll meet soon then inshaAllah. bring me a pack of Maggi ya.. hehe.. =)

as-salaam dear sister.. minimum age for boarding school students is 16years of age for those who are from boarding schools of their respective countries i.e. pondok pesantren of Malaysia, Indonesia etc. For the rest 18years of age and above. anyone younger will need signed permission from Habib Umar Al-Hafidz himself (principal & founder of Darul Mustafa & Daruz Zahra).

if you are non-boarding student (will not be staying in Daruz Zahra or Darul Batool dorm itself.. i.e. you come with family or husband and will be staying at your private accommodation, then the school's office will access you accordingly). hope this reply help.. =)

Assalamualaikum dora, i am fathimah from Malaysia. i am really interested in studying at dar ul zahra. problem is i dont know arab. is it possible to enter because a friend of mine said you need to be a tahfeez in order to be accepted? i am 28 yr old now.

dorayuana said...

as-salaam dear sister... your daughter aged 16yrs, inshaAllah you could try it out. if you are a Singaporean, register via RubatSingapura (they are located at Tradisi Halaqah - behind JooChiatComplex).. they are the "agents" for students studying in Tareem. they could be easily located via Facebook.

as-salaam dear fathimah... it is not true that the pre-requisite is to be a hafidzah of Al-Quran. it is definitely preferred so you could easily settle in the curriculum as our studies are heavily dependent on memorisation. we have converts who are studying here from scratch... i, myself am a student who was accepted to study here though i only learnt to read Al-Quran about 2yrs before i came. i only "memorized" weakly Suran An-Naas till Ad-Dhuha...

yes it is tougher for those who still are weak in reading Arabic i.e. Al-Quran but please know it is by the will of Allah that students are accepted here. we have classes for all levels here. there is a place here for you as long as long as you are sincere in seeking knowledge.

i hope my answer eases your thoughts. inshaAllah we will get to meet.

few concerns , does one need to know arabic in order to do the hifdh program. Or can both be taught simultaneously.

Durying the 1 year Asasi program ... which books of fiqh , nawh , aqida etc.. are covered ?

brother mourad ali, yes, you would need to know Arabic to be in the intensive Hifz programme but just to note, the normal madrasah curiculum does have hifz of Al-Quran in the subject curriculum.. its just not that heavy. for one semester (about 5-6mths), normal curriculum students would need to memorize just 1 new juz' (about 20pages worth) amongst the other subjects they are taking.

the hifz program though, we go by about 1 new juz' per week.

Asasi Fiqh books are Risalah Jamiah (matan & syarah.. meaning both the actually text and along with in-depth explanatories), Aqidah is Adzakirah Musharafah and Nahu books are Madinah Language texts 1-2. please note though this is based on Daruz Zahra's curriculum. i am not able to advice for Darul Mustafa's curriculum.

As-Salaam ukhti, i would like to ask, will it be easy to obtain accommodation off-campus there? I plan to stay in tareem for a period of 1 year with my wife and daughter.

dorayuana said...

inshaAllah yes. prior to coming just make sure you and family are registered under Darul Mustafa. there is a "guardian" for foreign students living outside of school compounds. when you arrive he will house you and your family in a temporary visitors' home. then onwards he will take you "home viewing".. food will be provided whilst you and family are in the visitors home. if you are not picky, most usually get a reasonable family home off-campus yet around the vicinity within a week inshaAllah. may Allah make ease in your arrangements and provide you and your family abundance in rizq of Allah's pleasure for your blessed intentions in pursuing knowledge of the Deen.

p.s. if you need more info, i left a number you could contact in one of the comments in my latest post (26th post). bit taufeeq!

Nasruddin

Asalamu alaikum
I wanted to ask if this semester system is also established in darul mustafa. I wanted to study there last year but I was told it was to late and I should try it next year. I could not apply earlier becauseI applied for South Africa and my visa had been refused in ramadan

dorayuana said...

brother nasrudin, this is for daruz zahra only. i am not versed in itinerary and matters from darul mustafa. you might want to try again. may Allah make ease in your affairs in seeking and attaining sacred knowledge.

Assalamualaikum ukhti.. I am from singapore and will be graduating from Madrasah soon nxt yr. i am really interested in pursuing my studies in Tareem.. The stages that you mentioned mmg kene ikut frm first or we can choose nk enter yg mana?

dorayuana said...

salaam dear Aieysyah,

may Allah reward you for your intentions in pursuing sacred knowledge. you will be accessed by our school's administration (in a day or two upon your arrival to Tareem; prior to starting school) before they decide at which stage you are suitable for.

its mainly a reading test, you will be made to read a paragraph of Arabic without shaqkl (the harkats of the arabic words) and will be tested on i'rab. those who can't read it will definitely be in Asasi Awal level etc. and those who could with the correct tashkil, will be in Ibtida'i Awal or Ibtida'i Jim (Syawal intake only).

even if you really are good at your reading and i'rab you will still to at least start from Ibtida'i in adherence to the Daruz Zahra books-to-be-learnt-in-sequence standard. you will understand this more when you get here inshaAllah.

once they decide, you will start school almost immediately.

i have recently 2 new students from madrasah who just arrived for the Rabiulawal intake, one was put in Asasi Thani and another put in Ibtida'i Awal... so it really depends on your assessment with our school's administration.

hope the info helps. may Allah make ease in your arrangements.

p.s.
a tip if you are from madrasah; start to make fluent your memorisation of Juz Amma, Tabarak & Fadhoil Suwar so it will be a whole load easier for you when you get here.
